Black Swan
We have decided to do our title sequence on "Black Swan". I am very happy with this choice and can't wait to begin. As a group we have come up with some great concepts which could work very well within the opening and will be very fun to work with. One of these ideas was origami. A delicate origami swan would perfectly convey the delicate state of mind of "Black Swan"'s main character, as well as the femininity of the ballet. We could futher enhance this idea, experimenting with white and black paper, while also observing it in different states, such as burnt or wet.
Another idea which we had was to use reverse as a theme throughout the project. This could be something like a swan rising from ashes or even a burning oriami swan. It is an effect which can be very interesting to look at and would be of great relevance to the movis as there are many scenes within it which do not actually happen. Therefore it could be a very interesting effect to work with.
Using this technique, it would also be aesthetically appealing to morph both swan and ballerina. This could be done by creating a cast of a ballerina, then molding it in wax. However inside this wax mold there would be a metal swan. By melting this wax ballerina the black, metal swan would imerge, again playing with black v white theme, and the transition of ballerina to swan, which is very prominent within the movie.
